Tempur Viscoelastic

    Tempur is not a product, is a firm that sells mattresses manufactured with a material known in the market as ‘Viscoelastic’.  The mattress is made of a layer of approx. 7 cm of ‘Viscoelastic’, and the rest, to reach a total thickness of 15-20 cm, is foam HR35.

 Tempur was the first firm to sells such mattresses, that are accepted by the public due to its adaptability to the body and to the pleasant feeling they provide,  despite the fact that only a side of the mattress can be used: the side having the 7 cm layer of ‘Viscoelastic’.

 Being an imported product, and due to the policy of the Distribution Firm, the price of the mattress is high and no discounts are allowed, with the handicap this represents for the Customer;  only on dates they consider convenient a 10 percent discount is allowed (See claim formulated to Tempur for Fixing Prices).

 Currently, various Spanish manufacturers have incorporated to their catalogues mattresses manufactured with ‘Viscoelastic’ that are either similar, identical, or, in our opinion, even better in quality and facilities, to the product distributed by Tempur.

 As examples,  we see that Pikolin sells the mattress Termal also with two layers, one of Termofoam and the rest of foam.  Poligon has a model with ‘Viscoelastic’ called Memory that can be used on both sides, and Dicon manufactures in Spain a mattress called ‘Viscolat’ formed by a layer of ‘Viscoelastic’ and the rest, up to the 15 or 20 cm thickness of the mattress, in Latex (the 100 % natural product).  The ‘Viscolat’ mattress can also be used on both sides, allowing selection between ‘Latex’ and ‘Viscoelastic’ at bed time.

 Any one of these three mattresses have the same, of even better, facilities than the mattress marketed by Tempur. The mattress manufactured in ‘Viscoelastic’ and ‘Latex’, marketed by Dicon, is, in the belief of any expert, of higher quality, being the Latex a product considered much more beneficial and advisable than any other foam due to its own characteristics;  apart from the possibility of using it on both sides, which increases the mattress life in a 100%.

 But there is another important factor that we must have very present when buying a mattress:  the price.  Any one of the three mattresses previously given as examples is much more economic than the mattress marketed by Tempur.   Manufacturing in Spain, market share, distribution,  prices policies, and many other factors, have enabled the diverse Spanish manufacturers to fix the prices in accordance with those of the best and more advanced resting products, but, even so, lower than the prices established by Tempur.

 We trust we have now made clear the reason why in Asturcolchon we recommend ‘Viscoelastic’ material but not in an exclusive way the one marketed by Tempur,  which is due to its high price and to the fact that there are other products in the market  ‑ similar, or even better ‑  at a substantial lower price!

 Our own Customers continue to encourage us to introduce the last novelties in rest;  however, when seeing the existing differences, they are the ones to choose what best adapts to their requirements.  Therefore, and with the experience had during the last months, we are in a position to say that as at current date and with such prices:  “TEMPUR?:  NO, THANK YOU!”
